This is the typical uniform for the FJ trooper at this stage of the war. His equipment is a mixture of LW and Army issue. While the LW initially issued the FJ brown leather accouterments, later directives and drawing from the Army led to most black leather. This soldier is wearing the Splinter B Smock (Bone Sack), FJ Helmet with Splinter B Cover, black leather accoutrements, a FJ Splinter B ammo Bandoleer, LW pattern 34 pants (Field Gray), FJ Jump boots (front lace with rubber soles). His Flieger Blouse is hidden under the Smock, but is the two pocket flight version common to all LW personnel at this point of the war. He is armed with the reliable K98 Mauser and a “Potato Masher” grenade. One interesting feature was the common use of the RAF flyer scarf. |
